Switching jobs at 12 weeks???
Okay ladies. I’m 11+3 today. Ever since I told my manager & district manager (I’m a retail assistant manager) that I’m pregnant, they’ve acted like it’s a total inconvenience for them. I’m supposed to work 40 hours per week, but I’ve had debilitating morning sickness that’s turned into dehydration and dizzy spells.
I understand that it’s inconvenient for me to call in sick because a manager needs to close the store. I also understand that there aren’t a lot of things I can do sitting down when I’m dizzy. But at the same time, I can’t help how sick I am.
So yesterday I called in sick for a closing shift. I had left early the day before due to a dizzy/fainting spell and vomiting at work. My manager made me stay until someone could come to cover me, which I’m pretty sure is not legal. So when I called in yesterday, the key holder who was working got ahold of someone who I thought was trained to open the store (I’ve only worked there for 2 months so I wasn’t 100% sure). Apparently this wasn’t ok. My district manager called me today on my day off to reprimand me for it, even though I wasn’t the one who called her.
At this point I’m pretty fed up. They are refusing to make accommodations of any kind, and making it seem like I can’t be sick from work. I’ve been offered 2 office job interviews for next week. My question is, do you guys think it’s bratty or unrealistic of me to quit without warning after this weekend to interview for other jobs? Also, how long do I wait to tell a new employer I’m expecting??
Please help guys. :(
