I don’t know where to post this but I my 2 year old has a strange habit. Is it normal?
So my just turned two year old has been to his two year check this week, couple of issues they wish to check up on..
1) he isn’t speaking as well as he should be. I understand him but no one else would. He doesn’t say much but he is getting there what I think a lot more day by day.
2) he had slight tongue tie when he was born.
3) he dribbles excessively. He has a bib on everyday and gets through them like nobody’s business.
3) his concentration isn’t very good. He won’t sit for any longer than about 30 seconds and things like threading or lining up things, he just doesn’t have the patience to sit and do it.
4) he doesn’t eat. He has no interest in food. He was weaned at about 10 months maybe even later, as he gagged on everything. Even now he just shoves all the food in without even chewing it. Just keeps putting it all in then spits it back out when his mouth is full. He doesn’t actually swallow.
5) so linking them all together they believe it may all be down to slight tongue tie.
Following this, he is being sent to a speech therapist which is massively worrying!
However, these last couple of weeks he’s decided to pick up a new habit. He gets a piece of fluff, cotton, anything! (Sometimes even a bogie - boys are gross!) and rolls it round on his cheek. This is such odd behaviour.
Being a parent, I of course Googled it and the first thing it come up with was autism?!
I am now putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 1863!
Do you think this is something ELSE to ‘worry’ about or do you think it’s just a silly habit??
Please, any advise.
