I'd speak with your doctor! "The best" will depend on your age, height, weight, and medical history. I know for a fact that some women who weigh over a certain limit can use certain birth controls, but not others, etc. So I'd definitely ask your Dr before making any decisions. The best for you may just depend on you! 
That being said, even on birth control, i was hormonal around my period, had some pimples, etc. There isn't one method that eliminates all those completely :) but they all help lessen them!

I mean I have an iud and haven’t had a period in months. And I don’t have any side effects like I did on the pill. 
But the truth is every woman handles different birth control differently. It’s about finding what’s best for you!

methods with estrogen stop ovulation: the combo pill, the patch, the ring. depo and the implant also stop ovulation. I didn't get periods on depo but gained 60 pounds in 6 months so I stopped using it. the mirena iud is fda approved to treat heavy periods, which is what I am getting I have extremely heavy periods. mirena lowers blood loss by 80% after the first 3 months and by 90% after the first 6 months. you should talk to a doctor about what option would be best for you.

I'm on the depo shot I've been on it for over 2 years now and i haven't gotten my period on it at all

I like the pill because it’s easy to change or stop if you need to. Plus the depo shot long term can lead to bone loss

I was suffering from just severe pain during periods a lot with heavy 8 day long ones so I went to the doctor and she recommended B.C. and it didnt do anything until I started taking them continuously (only because nothing else I tried worked) and by switching to a B.C. with a little more hormones in them. Defs talk to your Doc
