Dating and sex

This may seem like a dumb question, but my inexperience and anxiety has me thinking about this.

A little bit of a background: I’m recently out of a long term relationship in which I was sexually active. He was my first boyfriend and the first person I ever had sex with.

Eventually I’m going to be ready to date again, but I’m slightly concerned about the sex part of a new relationship. Is it unreasonable for me to want to be exclusive with a guy before we become intimate? The reason I want to wait is because I get very attached, and I don’t want to get attached to someone who isn’t at least somewhat serious about me.

Like I said, it may seem dumb to ask this kind of question, but I really don’t know what to expect out of starting to date again. Thank you in advance for your advice.
