What The Heck

Okay, so I didn't notice this until my friend pointed it out to me awhile ago. I always pick up my phone and open it right before I get a message, like clockwork, every single time. It's not like I know when the message will come through because of a conversation pattern, I'll pick up my phone if someone is about to text me first for the first time that day. Why do I do this? how do I do this? my friend always makes fun of me saying I'm psychic because I do this and I say bless you before people sneeze, but I don't believe in that stuff very much(no offense to people that do). can anyone explain?
