Should you have to tell your SO that you need them/something when you are sick or struggling?

I remember with my ex, I would tell him how I was feeling and he wouldn't take me anything, unless I specifically asked him for something. Was it wrong of me to expect something of him without being super specific?

I know you’ve gotten the same responses from everyone who’s replied so far but I️ think I️ can advocate for what you’re saying. Of course no one’s partner can read minds but I’m sure we all appreciate when our partner does hear or pick up on what we’re saying & then takes the next step out of the kindness & caring they have for us. My boyfriend can’t read my mind but if I️ quietly grab a blanket, he’ll get up and turn down the fan even if I️ didn’t ask. If I️ mention my stomach is a little upset, he’ll offer to run out and get me a ginger ale. I️ do the same for him. We both want each other to be happy and comfortable.  
I️ realize that not all guys are like this and some really do need to be directly asked & if you love him then you’ll learn that that’s just what it takes when you need something from him. But she said ex so they obviously didn’t work out and it’s not unreasonable to hope that your partner might take a little initiative sometimes. It’s not unreasonable to hope that your next partner has this trait. 
My mom’s husband is definitely one of the ones that needs it spelled out for him & while my mom has accepted it, she does find it annoying at times. My grandpa on the other hand is one of the ones that my grandma can flat out say she’s going to do something herself, like run to the store for one or two things & he’ll leave before she can even get her shoes on and then bring her a coke on top of it just bc he knows it’s her favorite.

I️ great lesson I’ve learned is “ closed mouths don’t get fed” If you need/want something then ask ! Some men are just clueless lol

I usually ask my bf for things if I'm not feeling well or if I'm hurting, but he also would ask me if I need anything like pain medicine or something to drink

Saying "I don't feel well" isn't asking for anything. If you need/want something, ask. Your man isn't a mind reader and usually you need to be very clear with a man, none of that "read between the lines" BS.
