Allergic reaction to amoxicillin?

We called the nurse and described this to her and she said to stop giving our LO the amoxicillin (for an ear infection) and then bring her into the doctor tomorrow. I just don't think I can sleep tonight knowing this is going on on her little body 😩 any insight or reassurance is appreciated

Give her Benadryl (call the nurse to find out how much). If it helps, it was an allergic reaction. If it doesn’t help, it is hand foot and mouth (yes it can be on the chest) or some other rash like heat rash.

I had a similar reaction to amoxicillin, but as an adult, although it was a very late reaction (a week after finishing). I wasn't itchy at first. It went away and then came back itchy, but it went away again.

Looks like a penicillin allergy! I would personally give some Benadryl. You can all and ask. Nurses are helpful, but don’t always think of everything. Luckily there are many alternatives to penicillin drugs! 😃

Amoxicillin is NOT Tylenol. It is an antibiotic, Tylenol is a pain reliever

Thanks everyone! The nurse said we can't give her Benadryl yet because she's only 11 months. Fortunately she does not seem bothered at all by this. She's our happy girl and resting now. We're planning on going to the doctor tomorrow morning. Thanks again!

My son is allergic to Amoxicillin also and it’s best if you give your child Benadryl. Within a week it was gone

That’s what I look like when I take it. 
I’d go to the doctor, and as for a referral for an allergy test as well. That way it will be on babies file that there is an allergy.

Amoxicillin contains penicillin, which is what she is most likely allergic to - Amoxicillin is a safe, general antibiotic and she should be fine once you stop giving it to her.
