Story while working at a hotel
I work at a Holiday Inn Express. Earlier this evening I had a guest come up and tell me their bathroom door wouldn't open. I went up to see and of course it wasn't working. I called my maintenance manager to ask what to do. I was told to grab this specific key in his office and use it to unlock the bathroom door.
Here's where issues start. I unlocked the door and apologized for the inconvenience. the guest then goes into the bathroom, locks the door, and walks out while shutting it behind her. I unlock it again and try to explain that the door won't unlock unless they have this key. there's a language barrier and the guest doesn't understand. I try explaining a few more times, unsuccessfully. finally I tell her lock is broken from the outside. she seemed to get that. I went back to my desk.
Half an hour later guess who's back? same thing, can't get the door open. I unlocked it again and once again tell her not to lock it. this happened 3more times until I printed a "broken lock" sign in French and put it on the bathroom door. my hope is she doesn't do it again.
most annoying part is her boyfriend was explaining to her in french not to do that. he spoke fluent English and I've heard them converse in French a few times this week. Hospitality is not for the short tempered
