Multicultural family

Samantha

My husband is from Ecuador and I'm from the U.S. We met while I was serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ecuador about 5 years ago. We went through the fiancée visa process and my husband is going on his third year of having his green card (yay!!!). I will be having my iud removed in December and we're discussing trying for a baby next year. All of his family is still in Ecuador and I really want to have his mom here for the birth of our child (when/if, fingers crossed, I'm pregnant). She would have to get a passport and then apply for a tourist visa in order to enter the states. I was wondering if there are any couples on here who have been through a situation like this before. I'd appreciate any input and advice.

Also, my husband speaks Spanish (still learning English) and I am bilingual English/Spanish. We've decided that he will speak Spanish with our kid(s) and I'll speak English so they learn both languages from native speakers. Are there any bilingual parents out there who have advice on raising bi-racial/bi-lingual babies?!

Thanks in advance!!!
