What do you do for a living?

I’m curious because I need ideas 💡 
I have no idea what I want to do to help my husband support our little family, but I know I don’t want to be a stay at home mom forever. It’s just too hard for me not getting to be out of the house on a regular basis, and I miss making my own money. 
So what is I️t that you do? And do you enjoy doing I️t? What made you choose that job or career path?

im a Licensed Practical Nurse

I am a dental assistant in a privately owned practice. I make your typical middle class salary at $40k a year and I have opportunities for raises as I'm with the company longer. It took me 10 weeks to get my certificate and a year of crappy work in a corporate owned practice to gain my experience and get a decent job where I love the hours and people and work close to home.

I'm a medical laboratory technician. It's a two year degree and my whole graduating class had jobs lined up at graduation so getting a job is never an issue. I chose it because I love science and think the human body is fascinating. I love what I do.

I’m the Program Manager at a small nonprofit that provides homeless services. It’s high stress and the pay sucks for my experience and degree (MSW), but the flexibility and non-financial perks are worth it- at least for right now. I work full time with benefits, make my own schedule, I see baby on my lunch, and I can bring baby to work or work from home if I really need to. I have my own office with a bathroom and mini fridge so pumping is easy. I could make way more money working for the government or a hospital, but I would be a slave to my job. I can’t imagine not being able to come in late when baby has a rough morning or not being able to take as many pumping breaks as i need. I got into social work to provide therapy but life took me somewhere else and I’m pretty happy.

I'm a Community Health Worker (CHW) and I love it! The work is usually grant based but it's very rewarding to me. Basically you get to work with patients (my program has a focus on Diabetes and managing chronic conditions). I get to travel, teach patients about diabetes, provide socio-economical support (assist with resources they might need). And be a source of support period. doesn't really require any degrees or specialty. The best part is that I manage 80% of my schedule as long as I get my 40hrs I'm good.

I'm studying linguistics and moving into applied linguistics to be a language teacher or linguistics professor.
I also have a tefl certificate to teach English.
I likely will go ahead and study speech language therapy as well ^^
