Goodwill Adjustment

I was super pregnant back in June and mailed our mortgage payment to the old company. By the time I realized what I had done, our mortgage payment was made 31 days late. Well it dropped my husbands credit score 150 points!! I feel so bad and like a completely awful wife :( I’ve pretty much ruined his credit. The lender is M&T; Bank. I was told I could try a goodwill adjustment but I’m not having any luck over the phone. Can anyone give advice or help please?!?! This man has always had perfect credit and never made a single late payment in his life
