Gastroschisis/ omphalocele birth story

Hilda ✨ • Mommy to an angel named Lucas 💙👼🏽 Gastroschisis warrior 💚. Baby #2 is here 💖

On Thursday November 16 I received a call from my doctor saying that all the doctors had just finished discussing my case and that they decided to do my cesarean at 37 weeks (December 7) My original due date was December 27. It has been a long debate about when would be the right time to have the baby out because of his diagnosis. On Sunday November 19 my mom did a mini birthday celebration for me and after everyone left I ate and then tried to go to sleep but...I couldn't. I was in and out of the bathroom almost every 3 hours with "constipation" by like 8 in the morning I gave up with trying to use the bathroom and just layer down. The pain began to get uncomfortable but it wasn't a pain where it would ever cross my mind that it was contractions. The baby kept moving to just one side making it even more uncomfortable. My mom recommended me to take a shower and just relax. When I got out the shower it was a pain so uncomfortable that I was barely able sit or move right. My mom suggested to go see what was going on because at that point it was 2PM and I was still feeling an uncomfortable pain that began around 1AM. When I got to the hospital they began to monitor me and saw that I was having strong contractions. When the nurse checked me I was already 5CM open. I couldn't believe it. I would of neverrrr thought that was going on that whole time. They began to call of the doctors that were assigned to my case so they can head over for my csection. After that everything happened so fast. They did epidural and general anesthesia just to make sure all my muscles were going to be relaxed. My csection was very intense because they had to try to get the baby out without damaging any of his organs or preventing his liver from irrupting (biggest concern) but of course God is great and so is the medical team that was on board...my labor was a success something they said my baby wouldn't even make it through. My son is now in the NICU in critical conditions (yet stabled) still fighting like a warrior. Just taking one day at a time and praying for the best and that he pulls through.

* he was born November 20, 2017 at 5:41PM. 34 weeks and 5 days 💙
