Does he like me or just messing with me???

In 8th grade I moved to a new school and they had a dance unit. I danced with this guy and around that time he started talking to me. He would try to make a hand shake with me and yell out my name when he saw me. He would say, “Saaaammnmmyyyyyy”. in a few other classes we had small talk. Then at a school dance he all of the sudden was riding on his friends back and came up to me and said, “I Love you sammmyy”. I cant tell if he was just joking because he’s close to a lot of girls but now in high school, we haven’t talked since.
