Anyone else with genital herpes?

Just wondering if anyone on here has either hsv1 or 2, and what your experiences have been like since diagnosis xx

I do. It makes me feel dirty, like less of a person. HOWEVER, I have to keep reminding myself that I'm not either of those things. A rapist can't make you anything less than you were before. Some days are hard, especially when you wake up with a tingle down there and know that, "ah shit. pissing is gonna sting today", or when you try to go down on your boyfriend and he says, "babe, you know why you can't.. I'm having another outbreak." 
LIFE GETS HARD. But it's nothing you cannot handle. a very mean man took my cleanliness away from me. He beat me. He raped me. I'm almost sure that his father did as well, because neither of them were home when I came to. I got tested for EVERYTHING two days after, and it all came back negative, even for Genital Herpes. But about a year later, I moved on. i finally fell in love with a man I met in 6th grade. I thought I was fine, the doctors said I was fine. So to make our love feel closer, we didn't use condoms. I had my first outbreak. Doctor. Crying. I told him, and he held me. "You aren't what a disease makes you, you're what you make of the disease." He said, "So what exactly is different? We have an STD. Okay. Why does it matter? It isn't like I'm going to be with anyone else for the rest of my life, you're it for me." He's a wonderful man. ❤ 
But it is doable. WE can do it. Life itself isn't easy, you just have to wake up and tell yourself that this disease doesn't have power over your mind. It's just another part of life. It sucks, yes. But you aren't alone. Reading statistics has really helped me in coping with the rap and with the diagnosis. As sick as it sounds, I am very thankful that Im not alone.

I don’t, but i think you should also create a yes/no poll, that way you can have more of an idea about the number of people who actually have it. You can get numbers on one post, experiences on the other. 😊
