Am I spoiling my newborn?

Me and my partner are absolutely besotted with our daughter. And hold her a lot, when she’s had a feed we both give her hugs and cuddles for a while.. During the day, when we go to put her down in her Moses basket, she settles for a bit, but then cries to be held (not all the time, every so often) I’ve been told by a few people that were spoiling her, and shouldn’t be cuddling her as much.. I feel dreadful as all I want to do is cuddle her..

They don't have the cognitive ability to associate being spoiled yet. She's just crying because she needs comfort, attention, etc.

Nooope! You can’t spoil a newborn. They’re used to being “held” 24/7 in your womb so even if you held her 18 hours a day that still wouldn’t be the same to her. Love on that baby as much as you want and research the 4th trimester!

You can’t spoil a new born. They cry for a reason. She just spent 9 months in you. That’s all she knows Hunnie. Cuddle her all you want!

You can’t spoil a newborn. Babies learn to self soothe around 6-9 months or so I’ve read.  As my doctor told me, these babies have been safe in a nice warm dark cubby and are now in a world that is cold and they are not used to being alone.

Babies don't spoil. My daughter was rarely not being held during the first few months and she is now a fiercely independent and secure 9 month old.
Babies want to be held because babies NEED to be held.
