How to split the rent?

My boyfriend and I are moving in together.

We both make about the same money, and we have been trying to figure out the best way to make sure that we are paying evenly.

Right now, our idea is to start a joint account. Well still have our separate accounts, but each pay period, we'll transfer $$$ from our personal account to the joint account.

We also both get paid opposite weeks, so money will be going into the joint account weekly.

Neither one of us have split rent before, so we're trying to find the most efficient way of doing things.
