She’s here and born on her due date!! (FTM Birth Story)

Sophia • 22. Married. Olivia Nov ‘17. Baby sister due July 2020

I️ loved reading birth stories while I️ was pregnant. I️t helped so much especially since I’m a FTM so here is mine.

My due date was 11/28. On 11/27 I️ had my OB appointment. I’ve been anxiously awaiting my baby for the last 2 weeks so when my doc asked if I️ wanted to have my baby and I️ was like “duh lol” so he swept my membranes at 1pm.

Afterwards my bf and me went walking around for about 1hr. Once I️ got home I️ did start to feel light cramps in my back and tummy. I️ passed them off as Braxton-Hicks bc they weren’t consistent at all.

My bf and I️ cooked and ate dinner around 7pm and I was still cramping. Then we had sex and that’s when my contractions stared coming every 7 mins or so.

I️ went to bed but I️ couldn’t get comfortable, so around 9pm I️ got up and laid on the couch. By then my contractions were stronger and every 5 mins. At 9:30 I was literally felt the pop everyone talks about so I️ ran/waddled to the bathroom and sure enough my water had broken. (Yay!)

I woke up my bf, showered and we were out the door at 10:00. My contractions definitely got stronger and they were coming every 3 mins. I️ was screaming in the car and I️ know I️ was scaring my bf lol. Poor thing.

We Got to the hospital at 10:30 and I️ was 3cm. I️ requested my epidural right away and by 11:30 my labs finally came back and I️ was cleared for my epidural. The hardest part was staying still during my contractions while the anesthesiologist worked.

After the drugs hit, I️ was so happy. I️ only felt the pressure of the contractions and not the pain. At 3 am I️ was check and to my surprise I️ was already 6cm! They check my again at 6am and I️ had progressed to 8cm.

By 8am I️ was checked and I️ was still stuck at 8cm. Doc decided to start me on Pitocin bc my contractions weren’t coming steadily anymore. The Pitocin surely sped things up and by 9:30 I️ was at 10cm.

I️ pushed with the nurse for 30 mins and it was very hard bc I couldn’t feel if I️ was doing it correctly. At 10 she decided to stop my epidural and let me rest. At 11 we began again and I could definitely feel what I was doing. I️ pushed for 20 mins and then the doctor came in. I️ pushes for another 10 mins and then she was born.

I️ ended up having a 1st degree tear but I️ was distracted by my baby girl when my doc had to stitch me up so I️ didn’t feel the stitches at all.
