Should I be mad?

Boyfriend left the house at 11:30am yesterday, didn’t come home until I had to go get him at 5:30am this morning. 18ish hours without letting me know what was going on, (doesn’t have a working cell phone, only works with WiFi) until I woke up in our empty bed and had to message the friend he was with to see what was going on. 
“His car died” was the only message I received at midnight. Nothing else until I sent a message....
I’m hurt. Sad, and a little pissed off...

Sounds sketchy!! If my car died I would’ve found a phone to call my partner.. no excuses..

I would honestly be upset because if that’s the actually the case (his car broke down), I think the considerate thing for him to do is to get ahold of you. If it was my boyfriend, I would hope he would think of me and the fact that I may be worried waking up without him there when he was supposed to be. And if his friend has a phone then it would be simple enough to give me call or at least a text. I know I personally would have appreciated that. To me it seems a bit sketchy and I may question his decision on not informing me, because what was he doing that he didn’t or “couldn’t” get ahold of me.
