C section at 36 weeks 👶🏼
So my birth story is fairly short! I️ have been a high risk pregnancy since I️ found out I️ was expecting, I️ was born with a heart condition that has gotten worse over the years and was starting to get more severe with my pregnancy. At around 33 weeks my doctor said that we would induce me at 36 weeks and after a lot of discussion between my doctors and I️ we agreed a c section would be best.
I️ checked in to the hospital at 4:00am, I️ could hardly sleep all night because I was so anxious. I️ got my iv and drank the awful bitter drink to help with nausea. At 6:00am as scheduled they wheeled me back to the operating room. I️ got another iv type thing in my wrist to monitor my blood pressure the entire time but they numbed my hand since it was going into an artery. They decided they wanted to do an epidural instead of a spinal tap to make sure my heart was okay and the numbing was gradual. Not going to lie it was so painful. It took about 20 mins for it to fully kick in and then it began.
There was a mirror above me the whole time, I️ couldn’t watch too much because it made me nervous but they got him out so quick! The pressure they describe isn’t even that bad, completely painless!!
He came out squealing at 7:12am weighing 6lbs 1oz which is an awesome weight for 36 weeks. No NICU time needed yet, he’s so healthy and perfect I’m in love.
