How Do I Get A Credit Card?

Question

I'm 18, so no credit, not in school so I can't apply for a school credit card. Nobody will accept me because I have no credit. I need credit to get a credit card so I can get credit. What the fuck. Being an adult fucking sucks. What do I do? Even Wal-Mart rejected me. Please help

Get a secured credit card. It’s a credit card where you put a down payment upfront and that becomes your limit. So if you put $200 down you have a credit card with a $200 line of credit. Use it and pay it off monthly to establish credit and be responsible

Capital one probably will. Its one of the easiest cards to get. I got it when I turned 18. Try it.

I just applied for one online with my bank and all they did was ask my source of income. I’m a full time college/nursing student with no income other than an allowance my dad gives me once a month (which is what the credit card was for). My bank just sent me one in the mail and didn’t ask a bunch of questions. Wells Fargo

What I did was have my dad open a card and get one with my name on it. I used it for a month and that built enough credit for me to open a card at Victoria's Secret. Your credit won't be super high when sharing with a parent, but it helps build credit so you can open your own cards.

I work in credit and your best bet would be looking into a secured credit card or try getting a low line of credit from a credit union like go inside and talk with a live person and try to avoid having 50 places run your credit because every time you do that's what you call a hard inquiry and that damages your score each time it's run. you don't have any credit history but you do have a score even if it's a really low one.. keep tabs on it on credit karma it's free and pretty accurate

I agree with the other posters, you'll probably have to look at a secured card. Maybe download the credit karma app; it'll keep track of your score and offer recommendations on good cards for you. It also gives your odds on being approved for different cards. There's also a site called nerdwallet.com that givess you recommendations based on your score and what you're trying to do, i.e. build credit, repair, etc. Try not to apply for too many cards, though, as hard inquiries ding your credit.

Secure credit card, capital one or credit one. When I had no credit capital one accepted me and gave me my first credit card. My brother messed up his credit and is trying to rebuild it and credit one accepted him with his bad credit.
