What are major neccesities for newborns?

Just found out my friend is pregnant with her 3rd child. she's not in the best situation (no car, no job, no stable living conditions) and I'm going to be providing all major necessities for the baby. I don't make a lot of money which is why I am only getting what is necessary and since I haven't had a child I don't know what those things are. So please fill me in... thank you in advance... and please no harsh comments...

Diapers, wipes, clothes (they only really need onesies the first few months), infant car seat, bassinet (I highly doubt I will ever use our crib or changing table), a bouncer is great and cheap to be able to put the baby down in a safe place.

The absolute minimum is a car seat (if she travels by car at all), a way to eat (formula or nurse), diapers, a safe place to sleep (a pack and play is acceptable and better long term than a bassinet) and a few sleepers.  Anything more than that would be extra.

Anyway, I don’t have kids so I dunno, but I’d encourage you to seek out resources before dropping too much cash. Go to the WIC office and see what resources they have. They can probably point you towards places that provide free car seats at the very least, and search out baby pantries that have free or reduced cost items.

Can she apply for Medicaid and WIC? Some Medicaid plans will give you a stroller / car seat and breast pumps. 
Some hospitals give car seats as well. 
As far as baby necessities : diapers , wipes, few onesies, and maybe a small sleeper.

I would say a pack in play as well! They are relatively cheap and will provide a long term place to sleep in place of a crib! Lots of places will have them on clearance of someone ordered it online and retuned it! Like target! Or if you have a Burlington coat factory! They have good prices!

If you get a “Sundvik” from ikea, one of the sides can be taken of, so it’s ideal from newborn til the kid is about 20-25kg

She could try breastfeeding. If it doesnt work then WIC will cover formula. Diapers ( cloth diapers to re-use), some clothes and a car seat. I would say they are the necessities.

Also when looking for items try going on Facebook marketplace, eBay, Craigslist, you can get them for much more affordable prices than if you bought them new. Clothes can be bought at thrift stores or yard sales.
