Got my iud in yesterday.. my experience

So here’s how it went..

Went into the ultrasound room (yep ultrasound guided 🙌🏻) she had me undress from the waist down, did an abdominal ultrasound to see my uterus and ovaries.

Dr came in, talked to me, inserted speculum, cleaned cervix with a cotton swab, sprayed it with bactine (I think), used some sort of clamp to pinch my cervix (and this was the first pain) they took note of the fact that my uterus was super bent..

Tried to put in the sound bar to measure (slight cramp) my uterus.. couldn’t get it in far enough with my bent uterus..

Took everything out. Brought me 3 cups of water and 600mg of ibprofuen. I drank all the water and then waited 10-15 minutes.. ultrasound tech came in and ultrasound me again, she said it moved slightly and said we’d wait a couple more minutes..

So we waited another 5 minutes or so and her and the dr came in and she ultrasound again and my uterus hadn’t changed but they figured they’d try,

So once again speculum in, then dr asks “what day of your period are you on?” “I’m not, my period ended 2 days ago..” apparently I’m a bleeder. Cleaned my cervix with a swab and bactine. Pinched cervix with tool to keep in place (and fuck that one REALLY hurt), inserted sound bar (cramps so much worse), for her measurement, inserted device that iud was in (cramp even harder) released IUD.

After she put pressure on my cervix for a little bit to calm down the bleeding. It’s been about an hr since and I haven’t gone to the bathroom yet so idk how my bleeding is, my cramps have calmed but they’re still there.

Here’s hoping it all works well and that that wasn’t for nothing.

* side note: not all women bleed from it

** next morning I’ve still got some cramping, not too bad though.
