What does active labor feel like

Question

I’ve asked before what labor feels like and the most common answer I’ve gotten is “the worst menstrual cramps of your life.” 
But what about active labor? What makes active labor so much more painful? Is it now a sharp pain instead of dull strong menstrual cramp pain?

It’s a pain so intense that it literally took everything in me to focus on staying calm. I had to really really concentrate on my deep breathing to help relax. I literally didn’t want to do ANYTHING. I was in active labor on the way to the hospital, my mom kept calling and my boyfriend kept trying to talk to me and it was literally irritating me. I didn’t want to talk to ANYONE lol I was just ready for the pain to be over

cant walk, cant talk , feel like you might lose control or can’t do it anymore. The pain is excruciating (not for all but for me it was). I started to panic thinking I might die if it got any worse

it sucks, I find it hard to explain. but,from what I remember, it's like a constant tightening but its painful. similar to period cramps, but longer and worse.
and don't even think about walking through a contraction, you will throw up! talking from experience.
when my body was ready to push, it was like it just took over, it was difficult to wait until then, but I'm glad I did!

The contractions are more intense and closed together when you are in active labor, to the point where you can’t really stand or walk around anymore.

The contractions are stronger and you are dilating so you feel extra pain in the vagina from it.
What makes it hurt more is that the contractions are so close it’s almost like non stop.
