Why do people wait?

I’m confused. I’m just wondering what people think about men who wait until after they’ve had children with someone to propose. Disregarding accidental pregnancies I think it’s strange. Children are a much larger commitment than marriage.

You can be in a committed relationship and ready to co-parent before being ready for marriage. My husband and I weren't married until our son was 3. Together 4 years before that. We didn't really plan everything to be out of the normal order but it happened that way. I knew he would be a great dad and we purposely didn't get married right away because we didn't want any judgement about the reasoning for getting married and waited until it was the right time for us. I have a couple male friends that swear girls try to get them to stick around by getting pregnant but I don't have any experience with couples ttc unless they don't believe in marriage.

I disagree I have four kids with the same man and we have been together for 8 yrs but I feel like marriage is such a strong commitment I have NO urge to be legally bound to another adult for any reason 😬 yikes no thanks pass on that one

Personally my SO and I are not married and I am pregnant with our second because at this point we are not interested in marriage  We are completely committed but marriage not only seems unnecessary but will also causebissues because he owns property with his mother and I just don't want to be involved in that.
