10lb babies!?

Question

Docs are saying my baby will likely be 10lbs. I would love to hear stories on how you birthed a 9.5 - 10lb+ baby. Were you induced? Did you opt for an epidural or did you do natural birth?

My son was 10 lbs 4 oz. He was my first & my weight gain was on track so my dr didn’t even think to monitor his weight. Plus, I had tested negative for gestational diabetes. My labor with him was horrible. I was 21 and was tiny back then so he got stuck. He spent his first week in the NICU to monitor his respiratory system. 
This is my second time being pregnant. Another boy, but my dr is monitoring his weight to avoid what happened with my son. Also, I have gestational diabetes this time around. I had an ultrasound at 34 weeks & he was measuring 6 lbs. I have another one at 37 weeks to see how much he has grown. My dr thinks a c section is my best option if I don’t go into labor earlier on my own. I’m open to a c section because I almost lost my first with how long he was stuck. 
However, it is true that birth weights by ultrasound are not 100% accurate & I’ve heard plenty of times that the drs told them one thing & really their baby was tiny. In my case, I believe them since I had such a big baby with my first.

It all depends on your body type. Do you have wide hips. Like I’m 5’10 250lbs hips measure 50 inches. I could easily have a vaginal birth of a 10lbs baby. Heck I pushed my 9 lbs babies out with 3 pushes. 
I have a friend who was 5’2 around 200lbs. They knew her baby was going to be big. She had tiny hips. So they did a c-section. He was 9lbs 10oz
Have another friend they didn’t know how big her baby was. She never raised any red flags for a big baby. She tried and tried and tried to vaginally deliver her baby but she got stuck in the birth canal. So got rushed for a section. Again this was a smaller woman. Her baby was 10lbs 4oz.

I am in no way trying to say that your professional caregiver is incorrect in their estimation of your babies size.... that being said I was told my daughter would be 8-10lbs at birth by my OB who I ADORE! And.... she came out at 6lbs 7oz..... I believe it’s quite common for the estimated size of the baby to vary. Either way baby has to come out. 🙌🏻

i had a 9lb 7oz baby...vaginally with epidural.   i wouldnt trust their estimates at all.  they said my niece was going to be having a 8+ lb baby and he came out 6lb 4oz.

I delivered my son this year, 10lb 13oz. Pushed for just under an hour. Great, healthy delivery with an epidural. 
No indication he was going to be a bowling ball! I gained about 20lb during my entire pregnancy. Negative for gestational diabetes. I am a healthy person and ate very healthily during my pregnancy. 
Apparently big babies run on my husband's side of the family.

I was a 10lb 9 oz baby due to me trying to come out early and the doctors injecting my mother with steroids. She did it natural with no epidural, props to her! I was a sumo wrestler. 😂 Anything is possible when you put your mind to it. Good luck 😄
