WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN...

Question

If you're a SAHM or a working mom but home when your significant other isn't... What do you do when your significant other addresses their frustration that "it looks like nothing has been done that day" while you were home? In some cases, we, as mothers, take advantage of alone time and clean until we feel like a robot.. others times we enjoy the quiet and only do a few chores. How do you handle these accusations in each case?

My husband truly appreciates me holding down the fort and would never say such things. He respects and admires that I do the 'home' work while he is out earning the money to provide for us. 
If the house isn't as clean or there's a load or 2 of laundry piled up, he actually comes in from a hard day's work and HELPS. (During his busy season, he works as much as 90 hours a week) When I go to apologize, he tells me hush and not to.

Point out that the baby is alive clean and fed lol its not easy to get shit done at home with a kid and balance your sanity and not be completely exhausted! Maybe find out what his top things are, like my husband doesn't care but likes it when the kitchen is clean and his work clothes are clean thats like the bare minimum he expects beyond that he knows how demanding it is to care for our baby. If your husband doesn't understand that part then he needs more one on one time with the baby and he will learn

I’m on my third month of maternity leave but am a teacher so I’ve always had my summers off. There were days when before baby where I was a total slacker and chose to sit on the deck and read all day rather than keep up with the laundry or dishes. I would feel guilty about it but he has never made a comment to me like that. Once he said about laundry, basically because he was irritated he didn’t have clean pants for the day, and I told him he was the one who showed me how to use the machine but I could refresh his memory. Now, when he needs pants and I didn’t get to them, he washes his clothes himself without comment. I’m much tidier than he is so that helps.

My husband said something similar when he came home from a business trip to LA yesterday. I told him to fuck off and that he has NO IDEA what my day is like home alone with our son 24/7. Don’t comment on the diapers on the floor or the dishes in the sink or the trash all over the living room (boxes from Christmas), just take the damn initiative and do the dishes or pick up the trash if it bugs you so bad. It takes half an hour if we work together but it takes a week if I try to do it all by myself and keep my son’s schedule. I can’t deal with people who think it’s cute to tell me that picking up his nasty-ball-sweat smelling underwear off the bathroom floor is my job when it is just as simple for him to put them in the hamper himself.

well, is the laundry done? Is dinner ready or planned? dishes done? if not then I suppose I understand his frustration. I'm a SAHM and my job is not only to take care of the baby, I care for the home as well. So things get done and it's apparent if I don't (piles of laundry for example). of course there are days when I just chill out and watch tv too, my husband is respectful and conscious of the work SAHMs do.
