Need advice

So last school year I was talking to this guy but then we fell off (I don’t even remember why), and then about a week ago he texted me and we started back talking. I didn’t tell anyone because it seems like every time I do something goes wrong, but this time my friends found out somehow idk and they think I’m wrong for talking to him because apparently one of my friends used to talk to him (before we were friends) but I didn’t know that and now she’s mad. She also didn’t say anything to me but she said something to him, then he told me about it. I feel like there shouldn’t even be a problem because I talked to him first before they even talked, so how am I wrong for it? HELP!
