what to expect at first midwife appointment?

Hi ladies, my first midwife appointment is on 4th January. I will be 8 weeks then. What can I expect? what kind of stuff do they at this first appointment?

If it’s your booking appointment it will just be all about you and your family history etc. Taking your height and weight and booking you in for your 12 week scan. You might be asked to have your bloods done if you agree to the iron level testing etc. You’ll also be asked to do a urine sample just to test for infection etc. You’ll get your folder with all your info and stuff in that you’ll take to every appointment from now on. I’ve just had mine today and got lots of useful Information to read. Lasts about an hour. Good luck xx

Book ur scan, give u some reading material about scans, blood tests etc. Give u a book about what to avoid during pregnancy, food lists.
They sometimes take a history to see if you need referring to consultant. Do your weight, height, blood pressure, and check your urine xx

Mines on the 4th too although il nearly be 11 weeks 😋 xxx

I have to say mine was nothing like that. the mid wife took no measurements or asked me anything about family history. she had no details of my visit yo the flu. she gave me a sheet to self refer to hospital for a scan, told me to avoid red meat and soft cheese, told me to get the flu jab and sent off the maternity exemption even though I had just paid for a full year of prescriptions in advance before getting pregnant. I was strangely disappointed that I was in and out within 5 minutes
