question?
my husband and i have been together for almost 10 years. recently, we decided to get tested together for std's, since we're thinking about bringing a third person into the bedroom. last year, i was positively diagnosed with Epstein-Barr Virus/EBV (a mild form of mono), which is also known as human herpesvirus 4. when we got the results back, i came back positive for HSV-1, while he was negative for everything. i find it very difficult to believe that i'd be positive for something, and he's not. neither of us have ever had a cold sore or anything in our lives, and i tested negative a few years ago, around the time he and i got together. i've done some of my own research, all of which says that EBV can cause a false positive on an HSV-1 test. when i asked the clinic where we went, nobody seemed to know what i was talking about, and they said that i'd probably had it as a child, even after i told them i'd tested negative a few years back. should i get retested at another location, and let them know that i have EBV? or can i just assume that it's a false positive and move on with my life?
