How can you tell when the cup is full?

I'm thinking about switching over to using a menstrual cup because I heard it's better than using tampons. I just want to know, how are you able to tell when it needs to be emptied out?

I can’t tell. I just rinse it every 12 hours. At first I checked it every 4-6 thinking it would be full because that’s what I would do with tarpons and they would be full. You don’t realize how little you actually bleed until it’s just in a cup. Seems like such a little amount when you actually see it. I’ve only ever filled it up half way.

I bought a dive cup before my last period, and expecting a flood of the Red Sea like I’ve had since having my daughter 4 months ago I was asking myself the same question you are now. I bought the size 2 one and never once filled it more than half way... Period is due again in about a week so we will see what happens. I do know tampons make your period look 10x worse, but I was actually surprised to see my period was over a day or two earlier than it normally would have been!

I can tell because I begin to feel really uncomfortable. Especially if I’m at work since I walk and move around and stuff. It’s just...really uncomfortable. I don’t know how to explain it.

I use a cloth liner to catch any drips at work and I change my cup every four hours the first few days of my cycle. Never had an overflow problem. I feel like I learned so much about my body since starting the cup, for example, the color and amount of discharge. The amount is way less than I expected it to be!

I only know because I know how heavy I am on certain cycle days. I can't feel at all if the cup is empty or full.

okay so what you do is save up and buy one and it will tell you what size to get. if you still have some tampons or pads left over from your last period that's great keep a few on you because you might not feel comfortable with it at first and switch back or be scared to go out into the public with a cup of blood in you. personally I'd suggest to only use it at home till you're confident with it.oh and back to the blood check it about 4 hours in and see the level it is and it shouldn't be much at all when you're comfortable with that try 8 and see how it is and play around with your hours till you become comfortable with it. and if you've used tampons and went to wipe and saw the light brown or pink if you're full or not in properly that's  usually what happens in my case. also  if you're squimish and hate blood I'm not going to lie it might not be the best thing for you but if you feel you're ready just try it if you don't like it don't use it and save it in case if you get curious again. oh and btw remember most girls are heavier at the beginning of their period but mellow out after the first few days. okay and to my favourite part about my cup talking about the "blood" if you are squimish stop reading nows.

okay so most people don't know this but you bleed like very very little it's mostly just your uterine lining and mucus with a dash of blood sooooo yes it's going to be sorta stringy it's perfectly normal just wipe or hop in the shower and if you're heavy and can't change for a bit longer than you'd like to make sure you are over the toilet or the tub because you will most likely spill a lil bit because it's stringy and once enough for leverage tips out, all that was attached to it will go too.

I can feel it. It presses down on my bladder just a little bit so I feel uncomfortable (slightly, not enough to be painful). Then I take it out and I’m like “oh, that’s why”.

I used to change mine every 12 hours and mine was almost always about to over flow. That’s for my first four days of my period. I’ve had it over flow a couple times so i change it once every 6 hours now

I’ve never even had it a quarter of the way full. I just empty it every other time after I use the restroom.
