Would you name your child something that you and your SO love even if it’s sooo popular?

Question

My husband and I are having a difficult time agreeing on a boy name. We both love the name Aiden, but there would probably be 7 other Aidens in his class. I like original names, but we have been deliberating for MONTHS without success. 
Would you use a name you both love and just accept its popularity, or would you settle for a name that you’re not as crazy about (that your SO likes) in order to be more original?

If hubs and I have a boy we’re naming him James. We love it. We feel it’s a strong, solid name. Other kids might have the same name.... but there’s only 1 “James” like mine.

As long as you don’t mind in school having his last name used a lot too. I am a teacher and 3 years ago I had FIVE Gabbys!!! So it was Gabby C. Gabby V. Gabby R. And so on....

A good friend of mine chose to name her daughter Harper because she had never seen a girl with that name before and both she and her first child had really popular first names. Wouldn't you know it? Harper ended up becoming one of the most popular girl names for people trying to find something "unique". Pick a name that you love. It doesn't matter how popular it is. A person's individuality and uniqueness comes from who they are not just what they're called.

I never understood why it matters. what does it matter that there might be 7 other kids with that name? he'll be the only one like him. if you like it, use it.

My fav girl’s name is Amelia, lately I’ve seen it popping up a lot :( I’ll still use it though. Luckily I never hear the boy name we have picked.. kinda hope it stays that way! lol

my husband and I both love the name Emma for a girl. Of course its super popular and I really struggle with that too.  we are having a boy, but I do think we would have chosen it if we were having a girl

I wouldn’t. My name is Ashley and my husband’s name is John. We both hate how common our names are and how we always need to specify our last names. There was always at least 4 other Ashleys in my classes growing up.

I really wanted to name our baby Luna if it’s a girl but it is rising SOOO fast up the name charts. Oi. At least we homeschool? 😫 Still can’t find a name I love as much.

If we like it, I could care less how common it is. My husband and I have already decided that if this baby is a boy he will be named Richard Dale: Richard after my husband, and Dale after my dad (his nickname) who died in 2012.. I think both names are pretty common, and not to mention, my brother gave my nephew the same middle name. But since the name is honoring my husband, and my late father, I could care less.
