Boyfriend and Drunken Kiss

I need a litttle advice, me and my “boyfriend” have been seeing what would of been 2 months yesterday but we’d been talking for 6months, it’s long distance. Anyway a couple of days after Christmas we decided it was maybe a good idea for a break as he is confused with his emotions, he says he still loves me and he did say that he thinks after our break we’ll be stronger than ever.

However last night, he told me after having a lot to drink on New Year’s eve (my birthday too) at a pub he went outside and one of the girls he knew came on to him and well he kissed her back. He told me he never wanted to hurt me and that’s why he told me and that he still loves and cares for me.

But I’m just very confused as in what to do? I still love him and am head over heels for this guy it’s hard to explain, everyone else has told me to just leave him and find someone better but I’m just so torn, I feel like I should forgive him as we were on a break and he did tell me and it meant nothing but I also feel like why should I be the one fighting for him to love me again when it should be the other way around. I’ve told him how I feel, as we’re pretty honest with each-other and tell each-other everything but it does feel like I’m the one trying to hold us together.

I know he doesn’t want to lose me all together either and would want to stay friends if I ended it but I don’t think I’d be able to do that. I’ve also asked if we could meet up either on the weekend or next week but always gives the half hearted answer of I’m busy but I’ll try.

So yeah, I’m just wondering what everyone would do in my situation. I know if he was sober he wouldn’t of done it and I know being absolutely hammered isn’t an excuse and he said it himself and that she came on to him but I’m also in the mind of , do I let him go even though I’m head over heels for him and don’t want to let him go.

P.s - even though we were on a break we told each other we’d still text how we were before and we wouldn’t go on dates etc, we just needed to get that spark back. We are both 19.
