Do ex’s get back together?

My boyfriend and I decided to break up because we’re only 18 and have been together 2 years but he wants to experience more in college right now . I didn’t want to break up but I gave him his chance at more freedom I guess. My friends tell me that he made a dick move and I agree but we’re gonna remain friends. Do you guys think that there’s a chance we might get back together in the future? Maybe if he regrets breaking up in the first place. I’m really sad and have been crying all night I made so many great memories he was my very first love in high school. 😣😢
