Slumber Parties for the Homeless?

✈️

I posted the story in full below, but a quick summation is that it’s been dangerously cold in my part of the country this week. (I’m in nearby Chicago and it’s been literally -20°F with the wind chill 🙀)

In response, a man has opened his homes basement to accommodate area homeless.

The city is shutting it down as a potentially dangerous unlicensed shelter.

His argument is that it’s only open for overflow homeless when it’s literally deadly cold out, not all the time, and that they’re simply his guests.

What should happen? Is the city overstepping, or is it too dangerous to continue the practice?

*Sorry the screenshots look a little wonky. I was trying to edit out all the ads.
