How long in total did you let your baby CIO?

Question

I do not believe in this but I’m worried she’s never going back to her crib (she slept there until she cut teeth around 8 months).
I’ve done the increments but she’s still screaming strong. It is literally making me puke.
At what point did you stop? (Meaning if they didn’t calm themselves by this many minutes/hours, you tried another sleep)
I support you if you don’t agree with CIO, but this is specifically directed at people who have tried it (and worked).

It worked for us and we started it around 5-6 months. Everyone thinks you abandon your baby to cry for hours without you. That’a gut-wrenching and not what it entails in my opinion. It’s not cruel or damaging if you do it right. You still tend to them, you just don’t give in to their tantrums. It was the best thing for the whole family and our entire schedule once we did it. 
You go in and you soothe every few minutes, you don’t pick them up. You shush and you comfort and then you leave again. And repeat until they go to sleep. 
It’s tiring the first few nights but then after that they magically start putting themselves to sleep after a few mins of crying. My son learned after night 2 so they say give a full week to train but it doesn’t always take that long. Il

We went 26 minutes.  And then he slept through the night like a champ.  The next night he fussed for less than 3 minutes and then slept through the night.  That first night was really really hard on me, but I literally kept telling myself “ one bad night for months of great nights” over and over.

Cried for 30 min the first night, 10 min the second night, a couple the third night and now I can put him to sleep anywhere I please and he knows what he is supposed to do. He was 7 months when we did it. 
Now at 12 months he has a paci and blankies he sleeps with and loves his bed. He won’t even cuddle before nap time, he just tries to get in the crib asap😂

I only let her cry for 15 minutes before I go and comfort her for a few minutes. Then we lay her back in the crib. She very rarely cries for more than 2-3 minutes now.

We have gone for three minutes at the most before I give in and cuddle her to sleep in our bed.  But luckily, she usually quiets after one minute.  I cannot handle the screaming until she chokes.

We did it at 9 months. We didn’t let him cry anymore than an hour. We went in every 15-30 mins because he’d get more worked up when we went in. It made me feel like I was going to puke. It was sooo awful. But by day two he was sleeping on his own 12-13 hours a night right through. He is almost a year and still sleeping so well. I will be doing it for my next babes.

Did not work for us. What happened was that she became terrified of being alone in her crib. It took us days to go back to normal sleeping pattern. We did it everything by the book, even consulted a sleeping coach. The conclusion is that it is not for everyone and I regret even trying.

We started CIO the week before my daughter turned 6 months. The doctor said to let her cry until she falls back asleep on her own. Doc said that may very well be her entire sleep cycle(which at that point was 1.5 hours) the first two nights were almost unbearable, but then like magic she started to wake less often and cry for a shorter period. By the end of the week she slept through the night.
