should children be allowed lockable doors?

th

as a child who wasn't allowed a working door until they moved out, and was manipulated into sleeping their parents until 14. i 100% believe children deserve lockable doors.

not only so they have a sense of real privacy. but also in case there's a home invasion, and they have enough time between the criminal busting the door down to at least call the police and a neighbour.

if your child is in a hypothetical mental state where you believe their autonomy should be limited, obviously keep the key to the lock and let them know that you will unlock the door and come in if you believe they're in danger.
