Advice please??? BIG DECISION

I am applying for a private, all girls boarding high school. I have fallen in love with the campus and the classes and extracurriculars it offers. I am well into the admissions process, and wasn't planning on telling my friends yet in fear that I would not get in. I told some of my friends, and I feel like they don't understand. We go to an average, co-Ed public school, and they all stare in disgust when I explain how happy I am. When they hear it is a boarding school, they assume I'm being sent away or that it's automatically for bad kids. What they do not know is how badly I want this, yet we need to apply for financial aid because my mother can't afford it. I feel like I'm being judged by my own friends and it makes me sad, since I want them to be happy for me. A boy I have a thing with is all upset saying he doesn't want me to go, and it just feels like no one is backing me up on my decision. Advice please ??
