I had to write 10 poems all different kinds of poems and formats and all that stuff and I HATE poetry but I wrote a corny poem about when I met my boyfriend and I'm a horrible writer just warning you but I wanted to share. October 18th 2017

The over whelming smell of spaghetti fills EWCTC

Laughter from volunteers and teachers rang in my ears as I took position

I was assigned the duty of passing out candy.

One beside me and 2 others down the hall joined me that night

But I was focused on you

Were you older?

Past student maybe? No idea

I was shy, and nervous around said boy,

But he was oozing with confidence,

Shouting corny pickup lines from his humorous mind of his

The children and families didn’t interrupt the exchange of flirting

Of the two of us that night

The moment you have me your number

My heart was beating so hard I heard it in my ears.

Am I being played?

Why is he flirting with a girl like me?

What is going on?

The causality of his voice made me calm,

The offer for a ride home made me laugh stating

“My parents would shoot me”

And that made you back down.

“Text me sometime I really want to hang out sometime”

Was the sentence that changed my senior year.

I ran to my friends and exclaimed about our encounter

An Army boy just asked me out.
