Just starting to try for the first time at 42

My husband was a smoker, we had fertility testing 5 years ago, I was 37, I had Plenty of eggs and follicles and my tubes were clear. His sperm tested as abnormal, small head, but the doctor said If he were to quit smoking his sperm probably would regenerate.. well he wasn’t ready at the time and I kind of gave up hope and was a bit resentful, we now have decided to really give this a last chance and he’s quit smoking for Good about 6 weeks ago. Has anyone gone through this? I’m also quite nervous about my age, but I’m keeping the faith and would love to hear some stories and tips.. thanks
