Would you take the pill?
I’m bored, so here is a thought experiment...
Let’s say there’s a pill that if you take it can eliminate a certain aspect of your identity. It could be a habit (like smoking), a memory (some kind of trauma), or something you were born with (anything from eye color to an aspect of your sexuality to a mutation that could give you breast cancer until certain conditions). You have something you want to get rid of. In order to do so, however, all effects and memories of said thing would be erased completely.
Would you take it? Is there value in keeping lessons and experiences generated from such a thing even if it’s not completely apparent? Personally, it would depend on what, but unless it’s something that is life threatening (to anyone), I would not, because then I would not be able to learn from it.
