Newborn sleeping too much?

My daughter is 6 days old & does have her nights & days confused. Last night she was actually able to sleep & only woke up every 3-4 hours for a feed or a diaper change but she’s been sleeping almost all day today & I can’t get her to stay awake other than to eat... when should you be worried about them sleeping too much??

if you're breastfeeding I would wake her every 2 hours to feed to get her birth weight back up and to keep your supply going! other than that sleep is good for their brains!!

That's normal.  that's all that newborns do - eat , pee, poop and sleep. newborns sleep most of the day and night. they can usually be up for MAYBE 45 minutes at a time. by 8 months old they usually stay up a max of 3 hrs in between naps. my daughter is 16 months old and only is able to stay up for 6 hrs in between naps day time. . and she's 16 months old.  by the 6th hour up she's exausted. newborns can't stay up for more than 45 minutes at a time. they sleep most of the time..

you have a while to worry about it. let her sleep unless it's been 3+hours so she can eat. it will be like this for a couple of months! follow her lead and you'll be good to go!
