Young siblings of baby in delivery room?

I’ve seen a few things lately of people saying they have had their toddlers there during their deliveries.... its making me think about having my mom come out for my second birth so my oldest can be in the room with us but still occupied and well tended to while my hubby focuses on me... She will be 3 and a half when this baby comes. I am planning to labor at home as long as possible and have a natural meds free birth... what’s your all’s opinion on having here there when her new sibling makes its entrance into the world?

We are army so they know that finding a sitter or having family get here isn’t always an option so they’re cool with it. I’m just on the fence.

my son was there, he was 2. we had no one to watch him. my family lives too far, and my MIL refused to come up to watch him. he just looked out the window, as soon as he heard the cries of the baby, he ran over and said "BOBO HERE?" He gave her a nickname soon as she was born, lol. I don't see any issues with it.

Definitely a personal choice but I agree, check with your hospital to see if they even allow it. I was 10 years old when I was in the room when my little sister was born... I remember basically nothing. It's more for your benefit than it would be hers so do what your comfortable with! 💕

Most hospitals that I know of won’t allow it. I personally wouldn’t want my son in there because what if something goes wrong. Doesn’t matter the age, they can sense things. If it were anything like my delivery with him he’d be traumatized. He also wouldn’t understand why he can’t get up and snuggle mommy and all the commotion would probably make him nervous.

My 4 year old has definitively said he DOES NOT want to be there 😂
I wouldnt let him anyways (not that he can, im having a csection)

It’s completely up to you. Some hospitals won’t allow it though, so just check with your hospital to make sure it’s ok.

with baby number 2 and 4 i had 1 of my kids with me bby #2 my daughter was there she was 13months my OB was ok with her been there cause i had no one else to watch her he just said to put her beside my bed so she wouldn't see anything so my husband put her in her carseat with bby #4 my 2yr old was there and my ob did not mind i told her i wanted him to be the first one to see his baby brother as he did not like me holding other babies when i would baby sit for friends so she said it was fine with her

My toddler was in the room when my youngest was born, loved it.
I loved having them be able to meet immediately and I loved being able to spend every last second of him being the only child with him ❤️
