Breast milk to formula

I’m wondering how you ladies that breastfed transitioned your LO to formula?

I pump then bottle feed him, and occasionally I will put him to the breast if I really need to, but I gave up on just the breast because he would fall asleep and then wake up a few minutes later wanting more and it was hard to keep him awake. It was just too daunting that way and hard to get anything done or to sleep because of how often newborns eat.

I want to switch him to formula eventually, but we tried it one day and he HATED it. He would not eat it whatsoever. So what should I do once I want to switch him over?
