cross stitching question (involves Cuphead game)

So, I am going to be making a cross stitched Cuphead picture for my husband's Valentine's day gift. He absolutley loves that game and how it looks. The problem is is that when I converted the photo to a pattern, it listed all of these colors. The original dled picture looks like it's 5 colors, but the converted pic looks like it has all of these subtle color changes and requires 75? colors. Should I ignore the color changes and simplify it to just the 5 colors or go with the subtle 8 color changes that it states?
