Shortened Cervix?

Anyone ever hear they possibly have a shortened cervix? They scheduled a ultrasound. I’m sorta freaking.

I had shortened cervix with twins my first pregnancy as well. I had preterm labor around 27 weeks, went into bed rest, and walked around 3 cm dilated and 70% effaced until ultimately falling into active labor at 34 weeks due to incompetent cervix. They’ll watch you more closely and you’ll probably have more appointments scheduled. They may even set you up with steroid shots depending how severe everything seems. Just remember it’s ok to be scared, but they know what they’re doing and they’ll take good care of you and baby.

I did! And still do... but I have twins and went into preterm labor so I'm high risk already. But they essentially just put me on a light bedrest and I take vaginal suppositories of progesterone every night for my cervix. It hasn't made it any "longer" but it's definitely slowed down the speed at which it was shortening. It's normally not a huge deal, they will probably just monitor you a little bit more depending on how far along you are 😊
