New birth control question

Okay! So I recently switched what birth control I was on because I was getting really heavy periods and being super emotional all the time. So the gynecologist gave me a pill that had lower hormones in it than what I was already on and he told me to just go ahead and start the new birth control even though I still had a week or so left of pills on my old pack. So I’ve been on this new birth control for 2 months now and my period is slowing shifting to a new week where my placebo pills are. And last time my period was super light and spotty and lasted longer than usual and it’s doing the same thing to me this time but even lighter. Like I’ll wear a pad a literally have just like a drop of blood on it by the end of the day. And now I’ve noticed that it’s starting to smell a little down there? And I’m worried a little that I’m getting a yeast infection but I’m wondering if it’s due to the weird levels of hormones in my body or what? Idk someone tell me why to do. I just feel like I’ve gone to the gyno a lot recently and they never really have a good answer for me. They’re like don’t wear thongs and always wash down there and I’m I do that??! So wtf??
