Baby’s first birthday but families don’t get along?

Hi ladies I need some advice please.

My daughter is turning 1 in a few months and I am feeling anxious about what to do for her first birthday party.

My husband’s family is very antisocial and can be very rude people. I don’t really want to have a joint birthday party because I know they will make it very awkward and uncomfortable for my family.

My husband’s family does not even like each other. They argue and ignore each other within their own family.

A part of me wants to say screw it and just host one joint party and whoever wants to come will come and whoever doesn’t oh well. But then I start feeling bad because I want my daughter to have a good relationship with both extended families. I’m not sure what to do at this point.

I almost want to just take her to the beach for the weekend with my husband and celebrate just the 3 of us.

Any advice?
