Easy Induction & Delivery for FTM ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ’™

Dr

My precious baby boy has made his entrance. Wow! As I lay here in amazement, I seriously can not believe that I just gave birth. I am a FTM & was due 1/23/2018. I went in for induction on my due date @ 730pm. It was elective btw. They started me with cervidil (OUCH) !! By morning my cervix was soft but still completely closed. They started me on oxytocin by 7am. Every 15 minutes they increased the dosage. They did this until I was at 20 miliunits of ocytocin. My contractions started to become regular every 2-3 minutes. This lasted for hourssssss. I was checked again at 1030 am and there was no change. Super discouraging! โ˜น๏ธ they continued to let me stay on the oxytocin & the contractions were started but were not unbearable. Around 12pm the pain really started to pick up and I felt like I needed to poop so my nurse assisted me to the bathroom. On the way to the bathroom I felt a huge gush of water. It was so freaking weird! My water had broken. YIKES! After using the bathroom my nurse assisted me back to the bed where she hooked me up to wireless monitors so that I could labor freely. That lasted for all of an hour because the monitor kept missing babies heartbeat. They checked me around 2pm and I was dilated in between a 2-3. The contractions were not unbearable but they were very uncomfortable. My nurse offered me the epidural & even though I felt like I could love without it, I still took it. ๐Ÿ˜… The procedure was not bad at all and I was numb in less than 45 minutes. I ended up falling asleep until around 445 pm. I was awaken by contractions so my nurse made sure to press my epidural button every 15 minutes so that I was completely numb and felt nothing. Around 6pm my doctor came in to check me and I was 10cm!!!! I couldnโ€™t believe it actually. Soon after we started to practice push. Pushing was a beast. I felt like this was my biggest hurdle because I had to hold my breath for so long ๐Ÿ˜‚ After an episiotomy, my son was here after 24 minutes of pushing. He was born at 624 pm on 1/24/18.

Despite all the scary induction stories, mine was great. I was only in active labor for 6.5 hours. I only pushed for 24 mins. He came out 6lds 10 ounces 21 inches long. I honesty believe the epidural helped me progress. I did not feel any pain & was able to push just fine. Yes labor & delivery is scary but you will make it! You will deliver your baby! & you will feel amazing holding your lifetime prize! Good luck for any moms awaiting their big day ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ’™
