Sudden hair loss!!!!!! SOS

My fiancé (male) has really hairy legs like most men. A couple weeks ago he noticed a “bald spot” on his leg kinda looks like someone had shaved one little spot on his leg. But it’s been weeks close to a month and the spots are getting bigger and bigger and on both legs now. It’s just random bald patches seriously looks like someone shaved him in random spots. But no one has and also it’s not due to any accidental hair loss lotions being used because there’s none in the house. Does anyone know what it could be it’s starting to scare me!
