Fizzy pop while pregnant?

Is it just being over cautious to avoid fizzy pop while pregnant? I'm sure my mother still drank it when pregnant with me...

I occasionally drank ginger ale but I cut all sodas & coffee out completely. Even my doctors kept telling me it was okay in moderation and were actually recommending me to drink some now and then to help with my headaches that I was experiencing but I was just hell bent on not doing anything wrong. I didn’t start drinking caffeine again til he was about 3 months old since I’m breastfeeding but next time around I am not putting myself through that abuse lol I will indulge in a nice tall or grande starbucks drink now and then during my next pregnancy because it’s totally safe and going cold turkey for over a year was ROUGH!! Lol

I hate sodas! Buttttttt ginger ale is the only thing helping with my nausea 😫 I’ve tried making tea with real ginger and it doesn’t help! But I don’t think soda is healthy period let alone being pregnant but it won’t hurt the baby.. just doesn’t have nutritional value !

The main concern is caffeine. You should stay under 200mg, which is about 4 cans of Mountain Dew or 16oz of coffee. Other than that, you’re fine to drink it.

I was always told that if you could see through it, it’s ok just has a lot of sugar I wouldn’t go crazy especially if it has caffeine but I don’t think many clear sodas are caffeinated.
